Facilities and Workspaces at Berkeley Lab

Cyclotron Road has lab and office space available for use by Fellows and their teams. We work to distribute it as equitably as possible given your needs and the collective needs of the entire Cohort, year to year.

Most of your work with Cyclotron Road will likely take place either on the main Berkeley Lab campus in Building 62, Building 70, at our off-site lab at our Potter Street location (717 Potter St. in Berkeley CA, 94710), or off-site at your own workplace

In addition, the Berkeley Lab also has a wide range of unique, advanced and specialized scientific equipment and facilities. Access to these facilities is typically obtained through a User Facility Agreement, or by reaching out to the PI in charge of the given lab or facility to discuss access options.

When seeking access to a specific lab where a User Facility Agreement does not exist, the rule of thumb here is to develop clear goals, clear agreements, and a collaborative spirit. If a PI has a resource you would like to access, consider how you might reciprocate in a way that helps them (such as sharing a resource of your own, helping them to defray a cost of their own, etc.). Pro tip: engaging with a collaborative "good citizen" approach and seeking a mutually beneficial exchange will usually get you the access you seek.

Our goal is to help you get access to the space and equipment you need to advance your work, so reach out as early as possible to the Cyclotron Road Program Team to discuss plans for your space and facility needs for the duration of your fellowship.
